DUO MOSIM
“Duo Mosim” is a performance team created by Korean traditional percussionist Chang Jae hyo and Gayageum player Kim Eun Kyoung. They have been performing together on various stages since 2001 and started their activities as “Duo MOSIM” since 2019. “Mosim” means “invitation” and “respect” in Korean. Such meanings are connected to the aesthetic of “Duo MOSIM,” which respects each other’s musical world and respects all art and culture in the world. They reinterpret traditional Korean music through improvisation and compose songs that are performed as a single piece regardless of their duration.

We introduce Sato Anna from Amami island, Japan at vol.5.
Amami island, located in the ocean between Kagoshima Prefecture and the main island of Okinawa, preserves many cultures that are both diverse and rare, a mixture of Okinawa and Kagoshima. Among these, the island songs "shima-uta" have a variety of themes, including casual scenes of daily life, farewells, longing, the hardships of colonial times and moral lessons for children, and have been sung around the table with family and friends to the tune of the sanshin and tategoto.
